The endless war between cyber-criminals and Guards is always ON. This time criminals gain and the most prominent software development platform suffered from most significant distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack on record, and its site GitHub got down on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, for almost 5 minutes. The inbound traffic reached 1.35 terabits per second, much bigger than the assault of 1 Tbps at French web hosting provider OVH in September 2016. The attackers used Memcached database servers having support for the UDP protocol enabled and exposed to the internet without any authentication.
