Imminent Deprecation Of SHA–1
The Secure Hash Algorithm is a family of cryptographic hash functions published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as a U.S. Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS). SSL certificates that apply the SHA-1 hash algorithm for their signature will be announced technology non grata on the modern Internet. Regrettably, contrary with the deprecation of MD5, where SHA-1 was broadly available across even legacy browsers, SHA-2 support is more limited.
